1/3/09-The Corner Pug, West Hartford, CT

On our way to the Thomas Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield (which I highly recommend--tons of fun, informational and where else can you go on a Saturday afternoon, spend $5, get all the beer tasting you can handle and get to keep the glass?!) we stopped for lunch at the Corner Pug--very ladi back and chill restaurant with a bar you could definitely meet your friends at and feel totally at home. We decided to give this place a try after seeing a show on the Travel Channel having to do with nachos and there is a place that had Irish Nachos that looked fantastic and then Dan tells us that this place has them too! We definitely wanted to try them, so we did--" Crispy Cottage Fries with Beef Beer and Sausage chili, Cheddar Cheese, Tomatoes, Scallions and Cherry Peppers"--bring some friends to share these with! The chili is very good, with an almost sweet taste and the chips were just loaded with it! Tom then had the Philly Cheeseburger with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese sauce and I had the Pug House Salad-garden greens with tomatoes, red onion, granny smith apples, cucumber, croutons and english blue cheese crumbles tossed in their house dressing. We both needed take home boxes after that lunch! Overall, a nice stop for lunch and a great value.
